Creative Interconnect Communications, LLC is proud to announce a new partnership with Spare the Air. “In 1991, the Spare the Air program was established by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District to reduce air pollution and provide advance notice when air quality is forecast to be unhealthy.”
CIC has now been added to Spare the Air’s notification list. This will allow CIC to receive daily updates on air quality in the Bay Area and be able to push those notifications out to our employees. This will raise awareness among CIC employees about air quality and allow them to make their travel plans with this information in mind.
“Overall, mobile sources - particularly cars and light duty trucks - are the biggest source of Bay Area air pollution, contributing 75 percent of the emission inventory.” This contributed to CIC’s recent decision to purge large vans and trucks from its fleet of vehicles. Currently, all fleet vehicles are Chevy HHRs which have reduced fuel consumption and emissions.

Bay Area residents and employees can also check the daily forecasts on the home page of the Spare the Air website (www.sparetheair.org), or call the Air District’s toll-free line at 1-800-HELP AIR.
In addition to supporting numerous local fire stations, police departments and city governments with reliable telecommunications services in the San Francisco Bay Area, CIC also strives to lessen its impact on the environment.

The FCC has come out in their annual broadband report saying that internet users are only receiving 50% of the speed they thought was promised by their ISPs.
While the average advertised speed is between 7 and 8Mbps, the graph to the left clearly shows the mean and median between 3 and 4Mbps. Is a 50% difference between what is advertised and delivered significant?
Friday, October 15, 2010 at 10:06AM Carrier pigeons have won a race against rural broad band after delivering USB keys more quickly than a computer using rural broadband was able to download.

Ten pigeons carrying USB keys were released from a Yorkshire farm on Thursday. They reached their destination in Skegness, 120 miles away, within an hour and a quarter.
